Aminata Conteh-Biger
Aminata Conteh-Biger’s story is one of survival, hope and resilience. Kidnapped in 1999, she survived months as a sex slave and human shield during the civil war in Sierra Leone, until she finally escaped to Australia as a refugee with the help of UNHCR. Her innate desire to give back, along with the traumatic birth of her first child, led her to establish the Aminata Maternal Foundation, a for-purpose organisation which helps Sierra-Leonean women gain access to maternal health. Aminata is also an author, inspirational speaker, performer, mother and wife.
